A barbecue left uncovered doesn’t just get wet. Rain sits in the burner ports and the grease tray, salt air pits the lid, and by spring the ignition has gone and the shelves have rusted through at the fixings.

HEVEA makes waterproof BBQ covers to measure, in our workshop in Murcia, Spain. Every cover is cut to the dimensions of your barbecue — not to the nearest size on a shelf — so it sits tight over the lid, clears the handles and side shelves, and doesn’t lift in wind.

We make barbecue covers for gas, charcoal, electric and kamado models, in three fabric grades depending on how exposed your barbecue is. If yours is a Weber, an Outback or another common UK model, we already hold the measurements. If it isn’t, send us three numbers and we’ll build to them.

How to Measure for a Barbecue Cover

Using a tape measure, take the width, height, and depth dimensions of the barbecue. Add 5 cm to these measurements to ensure the cover fits comfortably and the zips close with ease.

Maintenance and Cleaning of Barbecue Covers

For the cleaning and maintenance of GAMMA and BETA model covers, simply wiping with a damp cloth and neutral soap will suffice to remove any residue or dust from the outdoor environment.
Regarding the ALPHA cover model, we recommend using gentle wash cycles and avoiding abrasive products to keep its aesthetic intact for longer.

How do I measure a barbecue for a cover?

Measure the width and depth with the lid closed and the side shelves in the position you’ll leave them, then the height from the ground to the highest point of the lid or handle. Three numbers in centimetres. If it’s on a trolley with wheels, measure to the floor rather than to the base of the barbecue.

Is there a difference between a BBQ cover, a barbecue cover and a barbeque cover?

None — they’re three spellings of the same thing, and all three are common in the UK. What matters is the fit and the fabric grade, not the name.

Will a made-to-measure cover fit my Weber?

Yes. We hold measurements for the common Weber kettle and gas models, and can cut to any other model or make. We’re not affiliated with Weber — we simply make covers that fit their barbecues, along with everyone else’s.

Can I put the cover on straight after cooking?

No. Let the barbecue cool completely first. Outdoor fabric isn’t designed to sit against hot metal, and covering a warm barbecue traps steam and grease vapour underneath.

Do I need a waterproof cover or a water-resistant one?

Water-resistant fabric sheds rain and lets moisture vapour escape, which suits a barbecue in regular use. Fully waterproof fabric is the right choice for an exposed position or for winter storage, but the barbecue needs to be dry and cool before you cover it.

How do I clean a BBQ cover?

Sponge with cold water and mild soap and let it dry fully before storing. Don’t machine wash, tumble dry or pressure wash — it breaks down the waterproof coating and the seam sealing.
